You Are What You Eat

You’re going to try what diet?

Keto, Juicing, Low Carb, High Carb, Carb Cycling, Paleo and the list goes on and on.  Are you confused yet?  Don’t know what to eat or when to eat?  Me too.  At the end of the day it’s important to look at the big picture – what are your goals?  Do you have a long race your training for?  If so, low carb may not be the right diet for you 😉 Do you love oatmeal and mangoes?  Keto probably will send you off the deep end.  Have you been eating the same thing for the past 6 months or better yet a year and you don’t notice any changes? Or have you ever had this happen?

Maybe it’s time to switch up your nutrition.  If you keep doing the same thing and getting the same results (and you want better results), let’s find something that works for you now.  Each phase of life throws its own challenges and you have to be willing to change.  Had a baby, changed jobs (maybe you’re sitting more than you used to?), new stresses, injury and so on can determine what your body needs at this moment.

Are you a yo-yo dieter?  Hop on one diet and don’t see any changes after a couple of weeks and you move on to the next thing and the next…being inconsistent in your diet also will affect your progress and may work against you.  Consistency is key both in nutrition and exercise.  How do we know if what you’re consuming is right for you if your keto one month and doing a juicing cleanse the next month?

Lastly, if you have cravings, do great all day and binge at night, feel like you’re all over the place with your nutrition chances are you probably guilty of one or some of these issues:  aren’t consuming enough calories, you’re low in protein, aren’t eating enough fiber, dehydrated, too stressed (work, kids, job, over exercising, bad nutrition habits, etc), sleep deprived and the list goes on.
